Atraumatic microvascular vessel dilators in titanium — available in Micro and Supermicro sizes — with blunt rounded tips and mirror-polished exterior surfaces that are safe against the delicate intima.
Why vessel dilator design matters
A sharp or rough vessel dilator tip can puncture the vessel wall or abrade the intima, triggering thrombosis at the anastomosis. The 3-Jaw Clamp typically reduces the need for vessel dilation — but when dilation is needed, the instrument must be inherently atraumatic.
Features and benefits
Blunt, rounded tip — cannot puncture the vessel wall during dilation
Mirror-polished exterior surface — smooth contact with the intima; no abrasion, no endothelial injury
Non-tapering tip profile — consistent, gradual dilation without focal pressure points
40–45% lighter than SS — reduced fatigue in fine, controlled dilation movements
Non-magnetising, rust-free — reliable performance across repeated autoclave cycles
Colibri design available — inspired by Dr. Prabha Yadav's design, on request
3-year warranty on manufacturing defects
When vessel dilation is needed
With the Shira 3-Jaw Clamp, vessel dilators are not required in most anastomoses — a key time-saving advantage. They remain essential when vessel spasm is significant or when working in the supermicrosurgery range where lumen visualisation without dilation is not possible.
