Shira SS vs standard local SS instruments
Corrosion-treated — all Shira SS instruments undergo surface treatment for corrosion resistance; typical local SS instruments corrode easily after repeated sterilization
Calibrated spring tension — just adequate opening, preventing the hand fatigue that comes from wide-opening NHs over a long reconstruction
Narrow tip design — fine suture handling without risk of needle damage
Note on magnetisation
Stainless steel can magnetise over time. A demagnetiser is recommended for routine maintenance of SS instruments. Surgeons who prefer to avoid this consideration entirely may wish to consider the Titanium version.
